Calculate Tips Based on Payment Amount

IG Fly has been enhanced to calculate tip percentages based on the payment amount during split payment and partial payment transactions.

Previously, tip percentages were always calculated using the total check amount, that resulted in higher tip values for individual payments. With this enhancement, users can configure payment amount as the basis for tip percentage calculations, ensuring more accurate tip suggestions.

To support this, Terminal Option 565 (Use Payment Amount as Tip Percent Basis) must be enabled.

  • When enabled, tip percentages are calculated using the payment amount being paid.

For example:

Check Total: $200

Split Payment Amount: $50

Tip Percentage: 20%

  • When disabled, tip percentages are calculated using the total check amount. By default, this option is disabled.

This works alongside Terminal Option 187 (Calculate percent tip on gross subtotal).

When both Terminal Option 187 (Calculate percent tip on gross subtotal) and Terminal Option 565 (Use Payment Amount as Tip Percent Basis) are enabled:

  • Terminal Option 187 determines the subtotal type.

  • Terminal Option 565 determines whether the tip percentage is calculated using the check amount or the payment amount.

Important Points

  • This feature is applicable to:

    • Tip percentage calculations only

    • Guest-facing tip prompts

    • User-initiated tip percentage entries

  • The following terminal options are supported:

    • Terminal Option 82 (Prompt for Tip Based on Tender Configuration)

    • Terminal Option 528 (Enable Signature Capture Application on Terminal)

  • Custom tips are not supported.

Configurations in IGCM

Configure Terminal Option

Navigate to POS Configuration ➜ Terminals ➜ Terminal Option Group.

Choose the appropriate terminal option group and select Edit.

Navigate to the Terminal Options submenu.

Enable the following terminal options:

  • Terminal Option 565 (Use Payment Amount as Tip Percent Basis)

  • Terminal Option 82 (Prompt for Tip Based on Tender Configuration)

  • Terminal Option 528 (Enable Signature Capture Application on Terminal)

Select Save.
